The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G) extends the Indira Awas Yojana (IAY). The government launched IAY in 1985, to provide housing for the rural poor.

The government launched the PMAY-G scheme in 2016 and implemented various improvements to the existing IAY scheme, incorporating new schemes and components.

The objective of this scheme is to provide financial assistance to families living in rural areas who are in need of a house, to build a pucca house.

PMAYG 2023: Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana Payment

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G) scheme, eligible beneficiaries can avail of financial assistance of up to ₹1.2 lahks for the construction of a new house or the upgradation of an existing house.

The government or organization provides financial assistance in the form of a subsidy, and they directly pay it into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.

The government may provide the beneficiaries under PMAY-G with varying amounts of financial assistance, depending on factors such as the specific category of the beneficiary and the type of construction or upgradation being undertaken.

The financial assistance provided under the scheme is divided into three categories:

  • EWS/LIG (Economically Weaker Section/Low Income Group): Rs. 1.20 lakh
  • SC/ ST: Rs 1.30 lakh
  • Construction/enhancement of beneficiary-led individual house: Rs.1.30 lakh

The financial assistance provided under PMAYG Yojana is provided in stages as the construction or upgrading of the house progresses.

Beneficiaries generally receive financial assistance in three installments after the completion of specific stages of construction or upgrading.

The installments are given as follows:

As you know, under the PM Awas Yojana, different economic benefits are provided for building pucca houses in two types of areas.

The scheme builds houses on two types of land, Plain and Hilly/Difficult. Since most of the population lives on a plain/flat surface, these areas have the maximum percentage of benefits in the scheme.

PMAYG 2023 Application Process

PMAYG 2023 Application Procedure:

  • Firstly go to the official website @pmkisan.gov.in
  • Log in to PMAYG using the login details and press login.
  • After successful login, a form will be displayed.
  • Enter the relevant information in the personal details box, such as gender, mobile number, Aadhaar number, etc.
  • Upload the signed permission document for using the Aadhaar number.
  • Click on the search button to locate the beneficiary name, PMAY ID, and priority.
  • Choose the “Select to Register” option to register.
  • The recipient’s information will be automatically presented.
  • Fill in the remaining beneficiary data, including ownership type, relationship, Aadhaar number, etc.
  • Upload the permission form necessary for utilizing the beneficiary’s Aadhaar number.
  • Proceed to fill out the beneficiary account information, such as the beneficiary’s name, bank account number, and other relevant details.
  • If the recipient wants to apply for a loan, select “Yes” and enter the required minimum loan amount.
  • Input the beneficiary’s MGNREGA work card number and Swachh Bharat Mission number in the next part.
  • The concerned office will fill out the following section.
