What Is an Indian Passport?
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of the Republic of India issues Indian citizens with an Indian passport, which is the country’s official travel document, so they can visit their families, go on vacation, or make religious or medical pilgrimages abroad.
According to Wikipedia:
Only 7.2 percent (about 9.6 crore) of all Indian nationals had a valid passport as of December 12, 2022, with Kerala having the highest percentage of passport holders among all Indian states.
The last several years have seen an increase in demand for passports and related services as a result of the expanding global economy and globalization.
Both big cities and small districts are contributing to the rising demand for passports and related services, necessitating greater reach and accessibility.
Therefore the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) introduced Passport Seva Project (PSP) in May 2010 to increase and enhance the availability of passport services to Indian citizens.
