Jamabandi (Land Records) or Chitta Copy

Jamabandi, also known as the Record of Rights (RoR) or Chitta (in Rural), is like an official government paper that keeps track of important information about your land such as:

  • Ownership: It shows who the current owner of the land is. So, if you own it, your name would be there.
  • Use: It tells you what people are doing on the land. For example, if you’re growing crops or letting someone else use them.

Every five years, a “Patwari” updates this document. They make sure all the information is current and accurate. Then “Revenue Officer” checks and approves it.

This way, the government keeps track of land ownership and use to make sure everything is fair and legal.

It is the responsibility of people to make sure to check Jamabandi while buying land from other people.

e-Panjeeyan

In Assam, property registration (Bhumi Panjeeyan) is controlled by the Registration (Assam Amendment) Act, 1908. It’s crucial for any immovable property transactions to be registered to confirm ownership transfer.

Once registered, it’s a permanent public record. The process includes preparing deeds and paying stamp duty and registration fees.

The Inspector General of Registration, Revenue & Disaster Management Government of Assam oversees property registration.

The government has implemented the ILRMS e-Panjeeyan service to make the property registration process online. You can e-Panjeeyan Assam @revenueassam.nic.in

Dharitree Assam Map service allows you to download the map of the land to verify the boundary, land ownership and type of it etc.

This is an Online Castradal Mapping tool for updating the land records and correcting the instances of mismatch between the textual data and maps.

Dharitree NOC Certificate

When you want to buy or sell land or property, you must get permission from the relevant authority and register the transaction. This process ensures you legally own the property. To sell, you need a No Objection Certificate (NOC) under the Registration Act 1908.
