Decoding 10-Digit PNR Number
The PNR number has 10 digits. And in this first three digits indicate the PRS means where is your ticket reserved (Passenger Reservation System) while the remaining seven digits are randomly generated.
- PNR numbers beginning with 1 denote Secunderabad PRS in the SCR zone, whereas those beginning with 2 and 3 denote Delhi PRS in the NR, NCR, NER, and NWR zones.
- If the first digit of the PNR is 4 or 5, the ticket was generated by Chennai PRS in the SR, SCR, or SWR zones.
- Similarly, if it begins with the numerals 6 and 7, it is a Kolkata PRS ticket from the ER, ECR, NFR, SER, ECoR, or SECR zone.
- Furthermore, if the first two numbers of a PNR are 8 and 9, the ticket was issued by Mumbai PRS, which is located in the CR, WR, or WCR zones of Indian Railways.
