TRAI launched the Telecom Analytics for Fraud Management and Consumer Protection (TAFCOP) program to give citizens a platform to report unsolicited commercial communication and protect them from fraudulent activity.

These unsolicited communications can be annoying, and intrusive, and can also lead to fraudulent activities.

TAFCOP Stopping Issuing Multiple SIM On Your Aadhaar

Under this directive, all citizens were required to link their Aadhaar cards with their mobile phone numbers before February 6, 2018.

    • And lodge a complaint regarding any unsolicited commercial communication they have received.
    • The customer needs to provide details such as the phone number from which the communication was received, the date and time of the communication, and the message content.
  3. Complaint Acknowledgement:
    • After receiving the complaint, the TAFCOP portal sends an acknowledgement to the customer via SMS and email, providing them with a unique complaint number for future reference.
  4. Action Taken:
    • TRAI uses the data collected through TAFCOP to monitor and regulate unsolicited communication by telemarketers and other commercial entities.
    • Based on the complaint received, TRAI takes appropriate action against the telemarketer, such as warning, or imposing penalties.
  5. Status Update:
    • The TAFCOP portal also allows customers to track the status of their complaints.
    • Once the complaint is resolved, the customer receives a closure message via SMS and email.
